Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP), Ukraine’s leading agro-industrial company, and HatchTech Incubation Technology, have signed an agreement for the installation of the world’s largest hatchery operation. The project is a part of the company’s expansion project called ”Vinnytsya Poultry Farm”. The new hatchery will hatch approximately 6,000,000 day-old chicks per week.

Environmental systems specialist Hotraco Agri presents various novelties at VIV Europe. The IRIS-A is an alarm computer that guards the temperature in a house independently to the climate computer. It is an improved version of the double thermostat with minimum and maximum alarm settings. If required, the set temperature can be automatically adapted to the age of the animals by using a curve. For feeding of pigs Hotraco introduces the ORION-DF Multi phase dry feed controller. The ORION-DF can control a maximum of 30 silos and 512 different valves. Wet litter is one of the largest problems in the poultry industry. Main factors affecting the prevalence of wet litter are management and housing of birds, disease control, dietary factors and gut health. Wet litter problems result in large economical losses, as there are reduced performance and health status, increased management costs like labour and heating costs, farmer dissatisfaction and losses in processing. Provimi has developed a new product called ProDry AF (active fibres), which prevents wet litter problems. The Dutch poultry sector is in need of a test for checking the effectiveness of the Marek's vaccination. For that purpose, GD has developed a PCR test showing with blood and feathers if the vaccination has been effective.

Chronic enteritis (CE) causes in the poultry sector also more and more health and production problems. The results of histological intestinal research are often difficult to interpret and therefore GD has developed a new system: the CE score.

After three years of intensive research and development, Dutch hatchery technology company Pas Reform will introduce Circadian Incubation(TM), its latest advancement for modular, single-stage incubation, at VIV Europe this year. Study shows that embryos exposed to short periods of heat or cold develop an improved capacity to control body temperature during periods of heat or cold in the farm.
